We are honored to present our 2", raised brass, heirloom-quality Battle of Midway 80th Anniversary Commemorative Coin.
World War Two's Battle of Midway is coined as "The most stunning and decisive blow in the history of naval warfare." The US Navy stunningly sank 4 Japanese aircraft carriers while the US lost one carrier, the USS Yorktown. The battle completely changed the course of WW2 and occurred just six months after Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor from June 4-7 1942.
The front side, in raised 3D brass, showcases each US carrier that was involved in the attack, USS Enterprise, USS Hornet, and USS Yorktown, along with a Douglas SBD Dauntless attack plane. The U.S. Navy's SBD “Slow But Deadly” plane is best known for the fatal blows that were delivered to the Japanese carriers at the Battle of Midway.
The back side of the coin shows the battle map of the Battle of Midway in the Pacific Ocean. You can see Midway Atoll, which is 1,110 miles from the Hawaiian Islands and 2,485 miles from Japan. You can see the different islands and the ships movements on the back of the coin. It truly is an amazing work of art with incredible detail.
This 2” raised one-of-a-kind, heirloom-quality brass commemorative coin will stand out in your collection for years to come. This coin will be passed down from generation to generation with quality that AMN is extremely proud of.
